Dinner - Steak Selections

Steak houses offer excellent selections of prime beef that are prepared to perfection by a steak chef. Each steak house has a signature cooking method and particular cuts of meat to attract steak lovers. Some of the most popular cuts are filet mignon, tenderloin, porterhouse, sirloin, and the New York strip. Common across the globe, wherever beef is served, steakhouses remain popular.

The steak chef uses a variety of grilling methods including charcoal to enhance the savory flavors of the steak. Pan-searing and stir-frying are other methods that work well to retain the juices. Many steak houses will only serve Black Angus beef since both chefs and diners acknowledge that the Angus label ensures a delicious and juicy piece of meat. There is a fair amount of fat marbling texture in the Angus beef which provides the tender consistency. In the USA, steaks need to pass a certain set of criteria in order to become certified Angus beef.

Kobe beef from the Japanese is the most expensive steak on the planet. Similar to Angus, Kobe is strictly defined by a very specific set of criteria but on a much more rigorous scale. Cows and bulls used to make this high quality beef must be born and raised in the Hyogo Prefecture region of Japan. They must be virgins in order to keep the steak meat pure and while alive, these cattle are spoiled with hand massages daily and a steady supply of beer and sake.

Brazilian steak houses are also well known for serving fantastic meat. Exotic flavorings such as curry, mango and lime, lightly season roasted meat skewers. The steaks themselves are roasted over hot coals in order to sear in the flavor. Hot slices of this meat are then served in a style call Rodizio.

Many people enjoy eating some seafood along with their beef such as a side of shrimp or a lobster tail. Some of the finest steak houses are known as surf and turf restaurants since they combine these two delicacies. Other menu items typically offered at a steak restaurant include a variety of pastas, roasted chicken, pork chops and numerous side dishes.
